Your Questions Regarding How To Be Slim In 3 Days

Susan asks…

I eat rice every day so how can I remove fat from my body?

I am super self-concious. I am actually not fat at all actually but I’m so near getting the perfect body, but I just need to lose an extra 3-5 pounds – maybe less – especially in the belly and thighs. I was never fat but get ridding of this small amount of weight is a pain in the neck. I eat rice every day, and I asked my mom to get brown rice but they’re like – it’s less tasty and blah blah blah. Of course, I always mix a vegetable curry in their so I don’t think it’s all bad. Can you tell me how to lose 5 pounds in a week or 2 and become perfectly slim – BTW I DO NOT DO DIETING. I mean slim and toned, and healthy. Thanks.
No you can’t lose weight from eating rice, and it’s a main diet to eat rice for us bcuz my mom barely cooks anything but there are different varieties so you never get bored.

I found out the hard way that this is like raising kids. Everyone reacts a little different. I find what works best for me is – and I hate to say this because I love to eat – BLAND foods. No fats what so ever. Oatmeal is good, turkey (or ham) sand with mustard no mayo and a slice of tomoto. Soups low in fat. High protein drink mixes. Bananna’s are good but I stay away from apples & grapes due to the acid levels. And in small multiple sittings (example – I make a sand – eat half – and go back for the other half in an hour. This seems to work well so far. Also from what I have researched – don’t be too alarmed at having to visit the bathroom alot due to your system is dumping a hugh amount of bile into your intestines as it has nowhere else to go now. BUT do drink lots of water as every time you visit the bathroom you are dehydrating. Also seafood broiled seems to be ok.

Lizzie asks…

My sophomore year & all AP/Advanced classes, + marching band, Beta Club, & Quiz Bowl. How do I not die? Tips?

Here’s something of what my schedule will look like this year.
German II
Spanish III
Marching Band
AP Biology
AP US History – in which I have to do History Day.
Pre-AP English
Algebra II

Also, I have Beta Club, German Club and Spanish Honorary, & the possibilty (albeit slim) of Quiz Bowl. I have marching band @ football games Friday’s, & after school band 3 days/week.

I also plan to take the ACT & possibly the P-SAT this year, & the ACT I’m definitely doing.

Oh, and I have my impending driver’s test as well.

How do I not die? How do I handle all of this? I’ve heard that sophomore year was hard, but, isn’t this overkill? I really don’t have an option of dropping any of this, except maybe AP Bio.

Does anyone have any tips, or suggestions that could help me survive this year without a major breakdown?

Plus, do you think it would be at all possible for me to get a part-time job along with this? This is not something I need to do, I just want to explore my options.

Jane answers:

You sound like you are very bright and talented. Your school would not have approved of this schedule if they didn’t think you could handle it. You just have to stay disciplined and organized.

Get a calendar or a PDA and keep a very detailed schedule, referencing it often so you know when something big is coming up.

Start on big projects right away- don’t wait til the last minute.

Stay current on your reading assignments.

Start a study group with other students who are in some of your classes. Then you can quiz each other, compare notes, etc.

Talk with the teacher any time you are confused about something.

Talk with the teacher the minute your grades drop.

Pay attention and take notes in class- then reading the text book at home will be much easier.

Schedule your social time on school nights- take a break during the evenings to chat online with friends or whatever, but be disciplined enough to go back to studying after 20 minutes or so.

Be sure to get enough sleep. No one could keep up with that schedule if they’re tired all the time.

Set aside some time each week to study for the ACTs and PSATs.

Don’t get a job until you know you can handle this schedule.

Make sure to take time to have fun with your friends.

If you do start to feel overwhelmed, talk to your school counselor about what you can cut.

Good luck!
