Your Questions About How To Slim Down In 10 Days

Sandra asks…

Noticeable change in 5 days?

So I have my senior prom coming up in ~5 days (Sat. night) and I wanna look good. Yeah, it sounds cliche, blah blah, and I hate the fact I’m doing it, but whatever haha. I weigh about 180 pounds right now, at about 5′10“. I’ve got quite a bit of a gut/chest for my weight, so basically pretty high body fat.

My plan is do pushups/crunches (how many a day? 100 each I was thinking?) with walking/jogging one day, bicylcing the other day for cardio and then this “diet” plan.

Breakfast – Two slices of whole grain bread w/ some jam
Lunch – Not sure? Possibly nothing?
Dinner – Pizza tomorrow nite, chicken Wed. nite, Subway Thurs. nite, Alfredo Fri. nite

Will I see some sort of noticeable change? I plan on moving out of my parents’ house come June, in which I’ll end up goin to a full out diet, etc. to get myself into shape, so I know long term dieting/exercise will help more than anything. But do you think I can slim down a little bit in those 5 days?

Thanks!

Jane answers:

5 days is just a very short interval of time for any noticeable change. You should remove fast food from your diet chart and add raw vegetables and fruits.that would be more effective.

Ruth asks…

I have been working out for 4 days a week for a month- but I look bigger?!?

I’m a 19 year old female. I’ve been working out for about a month now, going four days a week (mon, tues, wed, thurs). I’m trying to lose weight in general because I’m unhappy with my body, paticularly my legs. But even though I’ve been working out, I think I looker bigger now than when I started. My clothes seem like they fit tighter?! I understand I’m building muscle, but I would rather just lose fat than build muscle because I already have all the muscle I want (I’ve been atheletic my whole life). My workout usually consists of: running a mile (about 9 minutes), walking a few minutes, ab workouts, hip adductor machines, stair master-type machine for 10 minutes, and sometimes stationary biking for 10-15 minutes. What should I do to lose weight, NOT build too much muscle? Any tips on how to slim down would be great.

Jane answers:

Your clothes should not be feeling tighter. Muscle is less dense than fat and thus you should be getting smaller even if you are the same weight.

You need to concentrate on building your upper body, like your arms and shoulders.

Also, the more exercise you do, the more you tend to eat because you are hungry. Try to limit yourself to 1400 calories a day and see if you get thinner.

Lisa asks…

What else can i do?

Jane answers:

More than likely you are not eating enough of the nutritious foods.

The MOST important thing is to eat naturally..without medicines, chemicals, “starving” your self etc.

First, it would be best for you to eat as healthy as possible..this will also help you considerably to lose weight gradually and naturally..

Eat fresh fruits, vegetables, drink plenty of WATER..avoid all cokes, caffeines, smoking, alchohol etc. As these also add weight as well as they contain chemicals which disturb your natural bio rythmns as well as brain chemistry. Try not to eat too much meat, and the meat you should eat should be “lean meat” such as steamed chicken and rice, or steamed fish with rice..and vegetables,, this should be your staple diet rice and vegetables with fruits..AVOID “JUNK FOOD” and “Fast Food” as this type of food is very unhealthy, lacking in vitamins really and has plenty of fattening molecules which make one gain weight and is very bad for overall health.

If you snack,, try fruits with yogurt or fruit yogurt and nuts.. Nuts are very healthy for your body .and contain proteins.

Go for walks every evening or morning or whenever you get time each day for 1 hour or 2 hours..make this somewhere you enjoy walking even if you have to drive a bit to there..and make this a daily routine..you will enjoy it once you get into it ..and it makes you feel great after..just walking for 1 hour or 2 hours.

If you do this..every day for one month ..you should lose around 10 pounds (.714 stone) per month until you get to your natural healthy weight.. Look up on the internet for an idea of what your weight for your height should be ..and when you get to this weight,,your body will look very nice and you will feel very good.

10 pounds (.714 stone ) each month in 3 months you should lose 30 pounds (2 stones, 2 pounds)..for sure…but no junk food and dont drink alcohol or smoke, dont eat junk..just healthy food with vitamins and walking 1 hour or 2 hours every day..and drink plenty of water..this is guaranteed way to lose weight naturally and for good, if you stick to this, which you should,,as it makes you feel so much more positive due to the vitamins and lack of chemicals making you feel depressed…

Btw, forgot to mention,,just in case you dont know how to really make healthy meals..buy a “food steamer” at your local deparment store..they are very cheap and work very well..as well as buy a “rice cooker” which is also very cheap..eating rice is a great way to get your necessary carbs “healthy carbs” to lose weight and has lots of natural energy inside. You can buy asian rice at most large supermarkets or if you have a local oriental market..they sale quality asian rice.. Thai or indian rice is good “jasmine rice”.. Buy corn or canola oil to sprinkle on vegetables or rice before steaming to add to taste as well as you can buy several nice spices like “cumin” or “Curry powders”, etc.just sprinkle on the vegetables before steaming to give nice taste.

Drink “Green Tea” as this is very healthy and helps burn extra fat faster…you can buy quality green tea at most oriental shops or large supermarkets as well

Mandy asks…

What happens to your body if you work out but don’t eat enough?

I’ve been working out for a month now. In the past, after working out for a month and eating right, I could see results in my face. This time though, my face looks like it just gained weight. I’m wondering why this is. I work out longer and harder than I used to, but it’s not having the same effects. I notice that my legs feel stronger but I feel like I’ve got more flab! By now I usually slim down a lot.

The past week however, I haven’t been eating much because it’s finals week. Is it possible that this is causing my metabolism to slow down, and that’s why I’m not seeing the fat melt off? If that’s the case, how long will it take to rev up my metabolism? What can I do to get it back up fast?

Thanks in advance!! I’m trying to look as good as I can for my birthday (which is in 10 days).

What happens to your body if you work out but don’t eat enough?
If your calorie intake is too low, your body will use it’s reserves for energy. Fat & Protein will become the energy suppliers. The protein is taken from lean muscle mass and converted into glucose which is then sent to the muscles to be converted to ATP (the energy that makes muscles contract). If you’re not consuming enough calories day to day, your metabolism will slow down as it doesn’t need to do as much work to break carbs and proteins down from food (there isnt enough of it).

I eat 5 meals a day. 300 calories for breakfast (830am), 100 for a midmorning snack (1030am), 300 lunch (1230), 100 for an afternoon snack (3pm), 500 for dinner (6pm) then 100 for a snack later (8pm). This ensures that the metabolism is getting a ‘workout’ all day.

To prevent losing muscles mass, ensure you’re consuming enough protein each day. To prevent your body converting muscle mass into fuel, ensure you’re consuming enough carbs. When you exercise (cardio) you’re body uses a duel fuel source (fat + glucose) to feed muscles. Glucose comes from the carbs you eat. If you consume too many carbs, your body will convert excess glucose into fat and store it (portion sizes). This is why it’s good to get the right balance. Look up foods that are low fat and high in carbs/high in protein and devise your healthy eating lifestyle.
